The dragons have lost their familiar form, sustaining themselves on the earth by channeling the power of a mysterious dark moon and living alongside humans. The hostility between the two races has brought about an alliance between the dragons and the warring country of Rein, which wishes to exploit what remains of their strength.

Dagger is chosen as the new Lunar Knight as Rein makes strides to defeat their enemies, though as much potential as he might possess, he's also irresponsible, rebellious, and more interested in his music than his part in the battle.
